Benefits of video snaking for commercial drain issues

Video line inspection is a game-changer for diagnosing and fixing various plumbing issues, including root intrusion, deteriorated and leaky pipes, blockages and more. This advanced technology provides numerous benefits that traditional methods can’t match. Here’s an overview of some of them:

Video line inspection equipment for diagnosing and fixing various plumbing issues

1.    It’s accurate. By inserting a high-resolution camera into the drain, technicians can visually inspect the entire length of the pipe in real-time. This allows them to identify the exact location and nature of the problem, whether it’s a blockage, corrosion, or structural damage. Technicians can devise a targeted solution using this information, minimizing guesswork and unnecessary repairs.

2.    It’s non-invasive. Traditional leak detection methods often require expensive and time-consuming excavation. Video line inspection is fast, affordable, and non-invasive because the camera can be easily manoeuvred through existing access points.

3.    It’s preventative. Conducting periodic video line inspections ensures minor issues are addressed before they escalate into costly emergencies. This approach can save you money in the long run and helps reduce downtime.

4.    It’s sustainable. With video technology, technicians can quickly and accurately pinpoint the source of a problem, enabling them to implement targeted repairs or maintenance. This minimizes unnecessary material usage and reduces waste. This technology aligns with the growing emphasis on sustainability and helps businesses keep their ecological footprint to a minimum.

Our pipeline inspection equipment

At The Drain Doctor™ in Calgary, we use the latest HD video technology to non-invasively diagnose leaky pipes. Our smaller video equipment trucks are ideal for capturing footage of pipes ranging from three to six inches in diameter inside buildings. This equipment includes a power auger that displays the before and after condition of the pipe and a self-leveling camera for better footage of the site.

Our larger units are perfect for inspecting pipes with a diameter of six inches or more. These units use laser profiling to check for any issues with the pipe walls. The video camera system can capture footage of the main line and inspect lateral pipes.

Additionally, the Drain Doctorâ„¢ features a "Pole" camera that can be placed on the end of a pole at the bottom of a manhole and digitally zoom up the pipe with a 360x digital zoom.

After capturing the footage, we provide the videos to our customers using USB and Dropbox.
